Market Summary
With Ukraine rebuilding its crushing infrastructure and the 2024/25 sunflower seed harvest coming in at approximately 15.2 million MT, above the pre-war five-year average, Black Sea supply conditions have pushed global sunflower oil prices about 12% below their January 2025 peaks.
Current Prices
Refined Sunflower Oil (Bulk):
- FOB Black Sea
- USD 990–1,020/MT
- CIF Rotterdam
- USD 1,050–1,080/MT
- CIF Egypt
- USD 1,040–1,060/MT
These prices are significantly below the USD 1,180–1,220/MT levels of January 2025 and offer an attractive buying window for buyers looking to cover third-quarter requirements.
Competitive Landscape
Argentine-origin sunflower oil from the 2024/25 crop is trading roughly USD 20–30/MT below Black Sea origin on a CIF basis. However, Turkish-origin refined sunflower oil produced at facilities in Edirne and Istanbul offers buyers a qualified alternative, with EU-compliant production standards and shorter lead times to MENA and European markets.
Demand Outlook
India, which faces palm oil import duty adjustments, is expected to increase its sunflower oil imports in the second half of 2025. Combined with steady demand from MENA, this should keep prices supported at current levels.
Sourcing Window
The current price decline offers an attractive buying opportunity for July 2025 delivery. My Trade Global can source refined sunflower oil in bulk flexitank or drum format at FOB Mersin prices that are competitive with Black Sea origin.
